Après l'expérience Plastic Ono Band, John Lennon sort un nouveau single en 1971.

Chanson engagée, dans la lignée d'un Give Peace A Chance, une chanson faite pour être chantée en manif, au porte-voix. Elle reflète bien l'ambiance du début des 70's avec tous les combats sociaux qui y seront menés des féministes (qu'on voit dans le clip) aux Noirs. 

On y trouve pour la première fois chez Lennon des propos féministes, qui témoignent d'un très long chemin personnel loin du " 

Il faut savoir que Lennon vers la fin de sa vie regrettait cette chanson, trouvant qu'elle était trop datée. C'est personnellement son côté "hippie" daté qui la rend si attachante aujourd'hui...
